For the last several weeks, I’ve been working with three other students from Eastern Michigan University’s Information Assurance program researching and mapping the Campus’ Crime Stats. If people take the time to look, they can find a map of the last 60 days and the daily crime logs for the last 60 days. We’re looking beyond those, but it’s interesting none the less.
At the time of this writing, I’m sitting outside the group study rooms, in the common area. A whole group (of 2), just got up and walked out of their room, leaving everything in there. These rooms don’t lock. More importantly, just three days ago, this hit the crime log.

I really don’t understand people sometimes, it is like they think a closed door is going to keep their stuff safe. They seem to live life with blinders on, and don’t think anything bad is going to happen.
Even funnier as I was writing this, a young lady just came out of another room that she has to herself and asked me to watch her stuff while she ran off to her car to get something she forgot. All I can do is shake my head.
I can’t wait until I’m done with this group project and we can start presenting the findings. Deep down, I don’t think it’ll change anything, but it will at least be there for people to reference later.
